Description
Discussion of early years in Brigham City. Includes personal and family history. His father John H. Bott was a polygamist, had 3 wives and 32 children. Moroni's mother was the second wife. John alternated time spent with each wife, was pursued by federal agents, and had a hiding place in the mountains. John started a monument business, Bott Monument Company, which remains in his family at time of interview, and left his older sons in charge when he was not in hiding. Moroni's wife Priscilla discussed homemaking tasks: doing laundry on a washboard, making soap, darning socks, making butter. Moroni cleaned snow from city roads with a horse-drawn snowplow. The couple danced at the Opera House and at the Box Elder Academy of Music and Dance.
