Description
Photograph caption: The 20-tent and shack town of Promontory was thrown up on both sides of the tracks to take care of the needs of the crowds that gathered to see the last rail laid.

Positioned behind some railroad track, a row of shacks and tents are laid out with people standing in front.  From left to right, there is a pacific hotel with soda water, a bakery and echo restaurant, and two unidentified tents.
